ניקולאי פולטיקה (1896 קונוטופ - 1988 ירושלים) היה היסטוריון סובייטי שהתמחה בחקר מלחמת העולם הראשונה. בשנים 1919-1914 הוא למד בפקולטה להיסטוריה של אוניברסיטת קייב, ומ-1936 עד 1951 לימד באוניברסיטה הממלכתית של לנינגרד. בעקבות מסע כנגד הקוסמופוליטיות וסדרת משפטים המוכרים כפרשת לנינגרד ניקולאי פולטיקה עבר לטשקנט ולאחר מכן התיישב במינסק. מ-1953 עד 1971 לימד היסטוריה באוניברסיטה הממלכתית של בלארוס. ב-1973 הוא עלה לישראל, וב-1982 פרסם ספר זיכרונות ברוסית. האוסף הפרטי של ניקולאי פולטיקה כולל את ספר זיכרונותיו ומסמכים מגוונים הקשורים אליו, התכתבויותיו, וחומרים הקשורים בעבודותיו כהיסטוריון --

The materials in this collection contain Nikolai Poletika’s memoirs and papers related to it, his correspondence and records relating to his works as a historian. These include his articles, copies of various secondary sources, a plan-prospect of his book, bibliographical notes on the history of the Near East and colonial policy, and lists of bibliographical sources. Nikolai Poletika's private correspondence contain a letter from his stepdaughter about her private and professional life in Washington, and Poletika's letter to the Jerusalem branch of the Association of Repatriates from Russia containing a request for assistance. Documents related to Poletika’s memoirs include: plans of the memoirs; report to the Director of the Centre of East European Jewry on the work at the memoirs for 1974 - 1976; a review of the manuscript by Feliks Roziner (1981); a letter by Poletika to editor; a letter to Prof. Shmuel Ettinger (1973) asking for a review; a letter of Prof. Yehuda Slutskii to Poletika (1976) expressing his opinion on chapter IV of the memoirs, and more. The collection also contains Nikolai Poletika’s Curriculum Vitae in English from September 1973.

תקציר ביוגרפי Nikolai Poletika was born in 1896 in Konotop (Ukraine) to well-known noble family. He studied at the historical-philological faculty of Kiev University (1914-1919), and in 1923 moved to Leningrad. Poletika graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Leningrad State University, and in 1923-1928 worked as a correspondent for several newspapers and magazines. From 1936 to 1951 he was professor at the Leningrad State University History Department. Nikolai Poletika specialized in the study of the First World War, and headed the university’s department of History of International Relations and Foreign Policy of the USSR (1947-1950). Following an anticosmopolitan campaign and the Leningrad affair, initiated by Stalin, he moved to Tashkent and later settled in Minsk. From 1953 to 1971 Nikolai Poletika was Professor of history at the Belarusian State University. In 1973 he emigrated to Israel and published a memoir in Russian “Vidennoe i perezhitoe” (What I saw and what I lived) (1982). He died in Jerusalem in 1988.
