Nikolai Poletika (1896 Konotop - 1988 Jerusalem) was a Soviet historian who specialized in the study of the First World War. In 1914-1919 Poletika studied at the historical-philological faculty of Kiev University, and from 1936 to 1951 was Professor at the Leningrad State University. Following an anticosmopolitan campaign and the Leningrad affair, he moved to Tashkent and later settled in Minsk. From 1953 to 1971 he was Professor at the Belarusian State University. In 1973 he emigrated to Israel and published a memoir in Russian “Vidennoe i perezhitoe” (1982). The private collection of Nikolai Poletika includes his memoir and various documents related to it, his correspondence and records relating to his works as a historian --
