Lev Gurevich (Yehoshua Arieh) (1876-1943) was a jurist, Zionist and community activist in Leningrad. He graduated in law from the University of St. Petersburg. From 1919 he was a member of the Central Committee of the Zionist Organization in Russia and in 1924 he became its chairman. In 1925 Lev Gurevich was among the founders of the Leningrad religious Jewish community, and headed it until 1929 when he was arrested and sent to camps. He died in Siberian exile in February 1943. Lev Gurevitch's private collection contains extensive correspondence between him and his family members in the Soviet Union, Israel, the United Kingdom and France --
