תיאור "We will not allow anyone to sell land to the settlers," he told reporters after meeting his Israeli counterpart, David Liba'i in Tel Aviv on June 15, 1995. "Those people who sell their land to the settlers will create a new problem for the peace process, for the Palestinian Authority, for every- body," he added. The Jordanian Parliament had passed in 1973 the law which stipulates capital punishment to people who sell land to Jews. Abu Medin noted that Jordan, Israel (which enforces the Jordanian law in the West Bank), and the Palestinians have not repealed that law. Liba'i raised the threat with Frech Abu Medin. Liba'i later quoted his Palestinian guest as saying he was merely quoting the law. Asked if he accepted Abu Medien's explanation, Liba'i said: "It was important for me to understand he was not urging people to engage in personal vendettas, but that doesn't necessarily mean that is what the [ordinary] Palestinian will understand."
