Photograph is printed in a book with a description beneath printed description: "(John, xix:17.)--This is here called modern Mount Calvary, because another place contends for the honor of being the spot where out Lord was crucified. The other place is inside the walls of Jerusakem and covered by the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. This is outside of the walls, and many of the best authorities claim that the evidences are in favor of its being the real place where Christ was crucified. It is to the north of the city, just across the Damascus road from the wall. To the right of the picture, mear the margin, we see the dome of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. So from this place we really have a view of both of the places where different authorities represent Christ as being crucified.". Quality: Good |
