Antisemitism

Discusses the psychology of prejudice in relation to fear and hatred, the Jew as the prime political scapegoat between 1879-1914 (since the Jews were everywhere a vulnerable minority), "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" (pp. 45-56), the Christian roots of antisemitism, and the Nazi period (pp. 87-103). Nazism is discussed both in terms of Germany (Hitler's combination of his own fear of the Jews with his political manipulation of anti-Jewish prejudice) and Nazi propaganda as spread abroad. Pp. 146-157 deal with antisemitism in the USSR. Concludes with recommendations of how to "sterilize" antisemitism (which was expected to disappear after the Holocaust) by legal measures. Relates, also, to postwar antisemitism in Great Britain, and to the Arab-Israeli conflict.
