Vilna - Wilno - Vilnius

A history of Jewish Vilna. Pp. 126-228 deal with the interwar period, including description of the pogrom on 14 April 1919 and various forms of antisemitism in Vilna during this period: boycott, antisemitism at the university, etc. Pp. 359-404 describe the Holocaust period, the creation of the ghetto, the conditions of life there, and its destruction in summer 1943. The majority of Vilna's Jews (ca. 70,000) were killed between 1941-44 in the nearby Ponary forest.
