Memoirs of a Jew born in 1934 in Warsaw. Pp. 13-40 describe his experiences in the Holocaust as a young child, including internment in the ghetto in 1940 and the hardships of life there. Discusses the selections and deportations which began in 1942, and the necessity of hiding during the day in order to avoid them. In January 1943 Dembinski, along with his mother and his aunt escaped to the "Aryan side, " where they hid until summer 1944, when they fled from the city because of the Polish uprising. They decided to separate, and Dembinski went off on his own and worked on farms in the area. He eventually was taken to an orphanage, where he stayed until the liberation in early 1945. His parents did not survive the Holocaust. Dembinski emigrated to Palestine in 1946.
