A testimony written between 1943-44 by Gradowski (b. 1910 in Suwałki - murdered in Auschwitz in April 1944), who was a member of the Sonderkommando at crematorium III in Auschwitz. The original Yiddish-language document was hidden together with the testimonies of four other Sonderkommandos in containers near the crematorium and discovered after the war. It was first published in 1977 in Israel. The document consists of three parts: the first describes the persecution and murder of Jews arriving in Auschwitz, the second the extermination of Czech Jews, and the third a selection among the members of the Sonderkommando. Gradowski was killed during the Sonderkommando revolt, of which he was one of the leaders. The other members of his family were gassed upon arrival in 1942.
