Contends that Wiesenthal falsely claimed to have had an important role in locating and capturing Eichmann for the prestige and wealth it brought him. Suggests that a legend of Wiesenthal's role took hold because an oath of confidentiality sealed the lips of the men of the Israeli Mossad. Friedman describes his own role in encouraging Nahum Goldmann to offer a $10,000 reward for information about Eichmann which eventually led to his capture. Suggests that in the 1950s the government of Israel did not search for Nazi war criminals because to do so might undercut Israel's efforts to obtain reparations from Germany.
