Pp. 107-140, "Aharon Appelfeld", discuss the Israeli writer's work which concentrates on the life-styles and attitudes of Central European Jews in the years before the Holocaust, and the lives of Holocaust survivors. Analyzes Appelfeld's most important novels - e.g. "Badenheim 1939", "Age of Wonders", "Tzili", "The Retreat" - and his style. Stresses that Appelfeld's main literary tool is irony. Pp. 131-140 contain an interview with Appelfeld, in which, among other subjects, he deals with his experiences as a Jewish child who escaped a labor camp in Transnistria.
