Inquisition

A history of the Inquisition from Roman times to the 19th century, analyzing the procedures, the personnel, and the Christian institutions that shaped the Inquisitorial tribunals. Examines the development of the myth of the Inquisition - e.g. its embodiment in literature and art - and how that affected the historiography of the Inquisition. Pp. 77-99 focus on medieval Christian antisemitism and the prosecution of Conversos in Spain in the medieval and early modern periods, with mention of prosecution of Conversos in Portugal and in the New World.
