Contains interviews with Arno Lustiger, held on the occasion of his 80th birthday in 2004. Pp. 41-72 deal with his experiences in the Holocaust. Describes the 1939 pogrom in his hometown Będzin, slave labor in Ost-Oberschlesien, life in the Będzin ghetto and resistance there, the family's deportation in 1943, and his time in various Nazi camps, in particular Blechhammer. In 1945 Lustiger participated in two death marches. His father and younger brother were killed in Auschwitz, but his mother, an older brother, and two sisters survived. Includes an introduction (pp. 7-12) by Wolf Bierman and a final chapter (pp. 147-154) by Basil Kerski.
