All of the crucial stages of the Nazi anti-Jewish policy - the boycott of 1933, the Aryanization of Jewish property, the "Kristallnacht" pogrom, etc. - were accompanied by outbursts of violence against Jews and their property perpetrated by the Nazi Party. Between 1933-39 the whole apparatus of the party and its affiliated organizations were involved in this violence. The violence usually took the form of "popular anger" and had several functions: to isolate the Jews from German society to break them down mentally and physically to mobilize German society toward this aim to pressure the bureaucracy and to transform party members into a "sworn community." The anti-Jewish violence became a tool of socialization for the newly drafted party members indeed, it was new members, as well as "Hitlerjugend, " who perpetrated most of the violent acts. The Nazi Party violence was deliberate, planned, and had "rational" motives, rather than arising from a system-determined radicalization, or from irrational dynamics.
