היסטוריה ארכיונית: רוני תורן אסף את חומרי הארכיון שלו החל משנת 1978 ושמר אותם בביתו בחלוקה לתיקיות לפי השמות של ההפקות וההצגות. בכל תיקייה סודרו החומרים לפי סוגיהם כגון סקיצות, תצלומים, קטעי עיתונות ועוד. בחלק מההפקות תועדו החומרים גם באופן דיגיטלי ונשמרו בתיקיות במחשב לפי שמות ההפקות וההצגות. בתקופה זו לא הופקו לארכיון עזרי קטלוג או איתור. בשנת 2018 הארכיון סודר, נרשם והומר למדיה דיגיטלית במסגרת "מיזם האוסף הלאומי הדיגיטלי בתחום התיאטרון" בניהול הספרייה הלאומית. במסגרת הטיפול בארכיון הוא סודר בחמש חטיבות, והן אורגנו לפי סוגי החומרים והפורמטים שבהם התקבלו: (1) תיקי הצגות ומופעים – קבצים דיגיטליים: בחטיבה מסמכים מנהליים, סקיצות, מקֶטים (דגמים מוקטנים) ותצלומים שהתקבלו כפורמט דיגיטלי. חומרי החטיבה חולקו לסדרות לפי שמות ההפקות. (2) סקיצות: החומרים בחטיבה סודרו בתיקים לפי שמות ההפקות. (3) אלבומי תצלומים: תיעוד של הצגות, אופרות ומופעים. (4) לימודים: סקיצות מתקופת לימודיו של תורן ומתחילת דרכו המקצועית. (5) תיקי הצגות ומופעים: חומרי החטיבה חולקו לסדרות לפי תיקי ההפקה שיצר תורן עצמו, והם סודרו לתיקים לפי סוגי החומרים – סקיצות, מקֶטים (דגמים מוקטנים) ותצלומים, מסמכים מנהליים וקטעי עיתונות. הארכיון נרשם באופן מלא ונסרק, למעט חומרים מנהליים המתעדים פעילות מוסדית, שקוטלגו כתיקים ולא עברו דיגיטציה. עבודת הרישום הניבה רשימת מיזמים מפורטת ורשימת מוסדות ואישים שעבדו ביחד עם רוני תורן. לאחר הטיפול בספרייה הלאומית הושב הארכיון לחזקה פרטית.

Archive history: Roni Toren collected and preserved his archival materials, covering his career from 1978 and onwards, at his home. Archival materials were separated into folders by name of production and show. In each folder, the materials were arranged by type, such as sketches, photographs, press clippings and more. In some productions, the materials were also digitally recorded, and saved in digital folders by name of production and show. During this period, no cataloging or finding aids were produced for the archive. In 2018, the archive was sorted, cataloged, and converted to digital media as part of the project "The National Digital Collection of Theater Archives" managed by the National Library of Israel. Archival processing divided the materials into five fonds, organized by type of material and format: (1) Plays and shows files - digital files: Contains administrative documents, sketches, maquettes (scale models), and photographs received in digital format. Materials in this fond are divided into series by name of production. (2) Sketches: Materials in this fond are arranged in files by name of production. (3) Photo albums: Documentation of plays, operas, and shows. (4) Studies: Sketches from the period of Toren's studies and early career. (5) Portfolios of plays and shows: Materials in this fond are divided into series according to the production notebooks created by Toren, and arranged by type of material: sketches, maquettes (scale models), photographs, administrative documents, and press clippings. The archive was cataloged in full and scanned, excluding administrative materials documenting institutional activity, which were cataloged as files and not digitized. Cataloging yielded a detailed list of projects and a list of institutions and individuals who worked together with Roni Toren. Following processing by the National Library, the archive was returned to private ownership.

The Roni Toren Archive can now be accessed online, by courtesy of the archive's owner and as part of a collaborative initiative between The Israel Ministry of Heritage, the Harvard Library Judaica Division, The National Library of Israel and the University of Haifa.
