The Lemaan Zion Society of Frankfort-on-the-Main was founded in 1888 by Mordechai Edelmann (מרדכי אדלמן, 1851-1922). Its main goal was to support Jewish charity institutions in Palestine. Until the outbreak of WWI this society maintained a public hospital, an ophthalmic hospital, and a dispensary in Jerusalem. It granted assistance to the sick poor and lent medical accessories and granted loans without interest to artisans. |
