This collection contains only remnants of what Walter Herz collected. The other parts contained ancient and rare books that have been incorporated into the general library collection, as well as manuscripts and manuscripts fragments which are today part of the manuscript collection. Originally most of the items were catalogued under separate call numbers. However, in order to preserve the integrity of the Walter Herz Collection, the items were added to the subgroup of ARC. Ms. Var. 493 to which 20 pieces already belonged. |

Walter Herz (Moravske Ostrava 1909 - London 1965) was a painter and book collector. Before World War II he was able to escape to England, where he started collecting rare books and autographs. |
