The collection includes mainly documents and letters related to Schapira's academic career in Heidelberg, as well as some printed items. The handwritten catalog of Schapira's library is kept in the rara storeroom: R2+=71 B 1149.

Hermann Schapira (1840 in Erswilken/Lithuania - 1898 Köln), was professor for mathematics in Heidelberg and an important Zionist in the early years of the movement. |

The collection was removed from the Schwadron collection in 1961 and is since then an independent collection of the archives department. Additional parts were added from the Schwadron collection in June 2014. More letters from Lazarus Emanuel Fuchs to Schapira are still kept in file Schwad 01 17 38, however, it was not possible to identify them. |
