זיגמונד קצנלסון (1893 ורשה – 1959 ירושלים), עורך, מו"ל, ציוני והיסטוריון, נודע בעיקר בזכות תיעוד יהדות גרמניה בספרו Juden im Deutschen Kulturbereich (1934) ('היהודים באזור התרבות הגרמני'). קזנלסון נולד בוורשה ולמד באוניברסיטה הגרמנית בפראג. בשנים 1917-1913 החל לפרסם מאמרים על נושאים יהודיים וציוניים בעיתונים הציוניים של פראג, Die Welt ו Selbstwehr. לאחר שסיים את לימודיו ב-1918 עבר לברלין, שם עבד לראשונה בירחון Der Jude שיצא לאור על ידי מרטין בובר. בשנת 1920 התמנה למנהל ההוצאה לאור Jüdischer Verlag והפך אותה לבית ההוצאה החשוב ביותר ליהודים בגרמניה. בתקופה זו פורסמו יומניו של תיאודור הרצל, ההיסטוריה העולמית של היהודים מאת שמעון דובנוב, האנציקלופדיה היהודית, חיבוריו של אחד העם וטקסטים יהודיים חשובים נוספים. בשנת 1937 עלה קצנלסון לישראל והתיישב בירושלים. הוא ניהל את בית ההוצאה היהודי בע"מ, והיה מנהל ה-Jüdische Welt-Rundschau. הוא היה נשוי לאחותו של רוברט וולטש, ליסה.

תקציר ביוגרפי Siegmund Kaznelson, (born May 17, 1893 in Warszaw, died March 20, 1959 in Jerusalem, also known as Siegmund Katznelson) worked as lawyer, editor, author and publisher. He also made himself known as a Zionist activist. After his father's death in 1895 the family moved to Gablonz where he finished school in 1911. He was friends with Robert Weltsch, whose sister Lisa he married later on. Both attended the Zionist congresses in Basel in 1911 and Vienna in 1913. Kaznelson studied law at the German University in Prag, and was between 1913 and 1917 also editor of the Zionist weekly Die Selbstwehr, mostly writing under the pseudonym of Albrecht Herrmann. He graduated in 1918. In 1920 he moved to Berlin to be the editor of Martin Buber's monthly Der Jude. Kaznelson also became director of the Jüdischer Verlag, and in 1931 founded its branch in Palestine under the name The Jewish Publishing House Ltd. In 1937 he emigrated to Jerusalem. Between 1939 until 1940 he was administrator of Jüdische Welt-Rundschau, published by Robert Weltsch. His most important work is "Juden im deutschen Kulturbereich", published in 1934 and immediately suppressed by the Nazis. It was published in a second edition as "Biographisches Handbuch zum deutschen Judentum" in 1959 under the redaction of Robert Weltsch.
היסטורית בעלים The archive was permanently deposited in the National Library in 1999. It was kept previously in the Beth Ha'am in Jerusalem, together with Kaznelson's library. Another part, including the correspondence about the "Jüdisches Lexikon", was transferred to the library by Thomas Sparr (Suhrkamp Verlag) in 1997. Some letters from Franz Werfel and Martin Buber were transferred by Kaznelson and his wife prior to their death.
