| תקציר ביוגרפי |
Until 1868 all the Hungarian Jewish communities belonged to one body. In that year the more observant Jews broke away and formed their own communities in each city under one umbrella organisation called the Orszagos Iroda. The community in Budapest called itself the Autonomous Orthodox Jewish community to show that they had broken away from the old communal organisation. |
