Wandering masks

"According to the contemporary theories of identity, our identities are social facts that are shaped by the wishes and the needs of the societies we are living in and as Eve Sedgewick Kosofsky claims all our identities are masks. Diasporic Jewish identity despite being regarded as religious identity, the discussions upon the features of the diasporic Jewish identity are still on going debates. Therefore it could be claimed that Jewish identity is a mask that is still vague in shape. In this perspective, late twentieth century Jewish identity, the relationship of the Jewish communities with the people they live with, the identity problems of diaspora Jews in the works of diasporic Jewish authors are examined. it is observed that in their attempt to create the individual Jewish representation they use and challenge the anti-Semitic stereotypes and make them parodies."--from Abstract, page 260.
