Memoirs of a Jew who was born in 1930 to a hasidic family in Wieluń, Poland, and grew up in Łódź. Describes the German occupation in 1939, after which he and his mother were interned in the ghetto. His mother died there in February 1941, and Shlomi entered an orphanage. In September 1942 he was included in a roundup of children, but he hid at the train station and then returned to the ghetto, where he was sent to work. However, he was deported in summer 1944 to Auschwitz, where he lied about his age. He was then sent to a labor camp near Kaufering, to Dachau, and on a death transport, during which he was liberated.
