Memoirs of a Jew born in 1931 in Somorja, Hungary, relating events in 1944, after the Nazi occupation. Jackson (née Friedmann) was deported, with her parents and brother, to the Nagymagyar ghetto in May, and in June to Auschwitz. She and her mother were sent to the Płaszów labor camp, then back to Auschwitz, and from there to the Augsburg labor camp in Germany. In April 1945 they were sent to the Waldlager camp (near Mühldorf), where they found Jackson's brother. Then they were evacuated on a large transport by train. They were liberated one week later by American forces at the Seeshaupt train station. Jackson's father died in the Holocaust. She, her mother, and her brother returned to their hometown, now called Šamorin, in Slovakia. In 1951 they immigrated to the U.S. In 1977 Jackson and her second husband moved to Israel.
