La derive fasciste

Traces the political evolution and ideas of three left-wing figures - the communist Jacques Doriot, socialist Marcel Déat, and radical Gaston Bergéry - all of whom became fascists. Antisemitism first appeared in Déat's attacks on Léon Blum in 1936. Italy's anti-Jewish legislation in 1938 led to demands for similar measures in France. Bergéry's journal "La Flèche" advocated a numerus clausus for Jews in key fields and accused Jews of pushing France into war. Drieu La Rochelle was engaged in racist propaganda for Doriot's Parti Populaire Français. Under Vichy, the PPF and Déat's Rassemblement National Populaire underwent nazification and supported deportation of the Jews to Madagascar, Palestine, or Guyana.
