יצחק יוליוס גוטמן (1881-1950) היה הוגה דעות ותיאולוג יהודי-ישראלי. הוא נולד בעיר הילדסהיים שבגרמניה. בין השנים 1910-1919 לימד בבית המדרש לרבנים בעיר ברסלאו וכן בסמינר לרבנים רפורמים בברלין (1919-1934). בשנת 1934 עלה ארצה, והתמנה לפרופסור לפילוסופיה יהודית באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים.

יצחק יוליוס גוטמן, הוגה דעות ותיאולוג יהודי-ישראלי, נולד בעיר הילדסהיים, גרמניה, בשנת 1881. בין השנים 1910-1919 לימד בבית המדרש לרבנים בעיר ברסלאו וכן בסמינר לרבנים רפורמים בברלין (1919-1934). בשנת 1934 עלה גוטמן לארץ ישראל, וכאן מונה למשרת פרופסור לפילוסופיה יהודית באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים. יצחק יוליוס גוטמן נפטר בירושלים, בחודש מאי 1950. Yitzhak Julius Guttmann was born in 1880 in Hildesheim as the son of rabbi Jakob Guttmann (1845–1919) and Beate Simonson (born 1858) from Copenhagen. Jakob Guttmann was chief rabbi of Hildesheim from 1874 until 1892 and also published works on philosophical topics. In 1880 the family moved to Breslau. Julius Guttmann studied at Jewish Theological Seminary and at the university of Breslau. He taught in Breslau from 1910 until 1919 and then became lecturer at the Lehranstalt für die Wissenschaft des Judentums in Berlin from 1919 until 1934. He was also the scientific director of the Academy of Jewish Sciences in Berlin and published "The philosophy of Judaism". In 1934 he immigrated to Israel and was appointed to be professor of Jewish Philosophy at Hebrew University and remained in this position until his death on May 20, 1950. |
