A fragment of a verse is written above 'Sing ye to the Lord, for He is highly exalted' [Exodus 15:21], which recognizes the woman as Miriam the prophetess and Israelites after crossing the red sea and watching the sea closes over the Egyptians. Then Moses and the Israelites sang and praised the Lord's grandure. This verse also appears in the Halel. In verse 20 of the same chapter Miriam takes a tamborine (and not a harp as is depicted in th epostcard) and the women join her in song and dance, as is written:'And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
