כותר Auschwitz and the professors.
מתוך Commentary 105,6 (1998) 42-46
תקציר/הערה Questions whether Holocaust studies is a legitimate academic discipline and whether it is good that Holocaust studies have proliferated in American universities in recent decades. The process of "academizing" the Holocaust has resulted, inevitably, in distancing, objectifying, and naturalizing its horrors. Some of the worst excesses and distortions of the Holocaust have emerged from "gender studies" which exploit the Holocaust to promote a feminist agenda which aims to sever Jewish women from their families and from the larger Jewish community. Feminist voices pursuing such goals are becoming increasingly prominent in Holocaust museums, resource centers, and university enclaves.
