- Wikipedia, April 11, 2025(Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester; Henry William Frederick Albert; born 31 March 1900 (York College, Sandringham, England); third son of King George V and Queen Mary, and younger brother of kings Edward VIII and George VI; had fragile health as a young child; he attended St Peter's Court in Broadstairs for 3 years (1910-1913), becoming the first son of a British monarch to attend school; started at Eton College in 1913; entered Trinity College, Cambridge in 1919 with his brother Albert, and by then was in good health; attended the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, in 1919 for Army training, and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the King's Royal Rifle Corps on 16 July 1919; promoted to lieutenant in the 10th Royal Hussars on 16 July 1921; had various promotions up to his final active rank of major on 6 July 1935; sent by George V on tours to Japan (1929) to confer the Garter on the Emperor, and to attend the coronation of Haile Selassie in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (1930); following his brother's abdication and the accession of his brother the Duke of York as George VI, Prince Henry was retired from active duty, and received a ceremonial promotion to major-general on 1 January 1937, as well as a Royal Air Force commission as air vice-marshal the same day; continued to serve in his new role as personal aide-de-camp to his eldest brother, Edward VIII; with the outbreak of World War II he joined the British Expeditionary Force; on 31 March 1928 his father created him Duke of Gloucester, Earl of Ulster and Baron Culloden, titles linking him with three parts of the United Kingdom (England, Northern Ireland and Scotland); in 1934 George V made him a Knight of St Patrick, Ireland's chivalric order; at the time of his death, he was the only remaining such knight; in 1934 he went on a tour to Australia and New Zealand where he was well received; after that tour he married Lady Alice Montagu Douglas Scott, sister of his good friend; with the abdication of Edward VIII, he was obliged to support his brother George VI and be more involved in official events; he served as Governor-General of Australia from 1945 to 1947; he represented Queen Elizabeth II during the Malayan Declaration of Independence on 31 August 1957; in later years he suffered a series of strokes, first in 1965 when returning from Sir Winston Churchill's funeral ceremony; died 10 June 1974 (Barnwell Manor, Northamptonshire, England))

הנסיך הנרי, דוכס גלוסטר (הנרי ויליאם פרדריק אלברט, באנגלית: Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester; 31 במרץ 1900 – 10 ביוני 1974) היה איש צבא ובנם השלישי של ג'ורג' החמישי, מלך הממלכה המאוחדת והמלכה מרי. עם עלייתו לכס המלוכה ב-1936 של אחיו ג'ורג' השישי, הוא מונה להיות העוצר האפשרי לנסיכה אליזבת (לימים, המלכה אליזבת השנייה). עקב כך הוא נדרש להישאר בתחומי הממלכה המאוחדת עד להגעתה של הנסיכה לבגרות במקרה שאביה ימות והיא תעלה לכס המלוכה כקטינה. הנסיך הנרי שירת כאיש צבא רוב חייו. בין השנים 1945–1947 הוא שירת כמושל הכללי האחד עשר של אוסטרליה. במותו ב-1974 הוא היה היה האביר האחרון של מסדר פטריק הקדוש והאחרון מבין ילדיהם של המלך ג'ורג' החמישי והמלכה מרי שנותר בחיים.
