Dictionary of African Biography, accessed February 19, 2015, via Oxford African American Studies Center database:(Lihamba, Amandina; stage/screen actor, motion picture producer/director, dramatist; born 1944 in Tanzania; received a master's degree in fine arts from the Yale University and a doctorate from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom (1985); produced “Arusi ya Mariamu” (Mariamu's Wedding, 1985); joined the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Dar es Salaam; was appointed dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, was a member of the university council and subsequently an acting director of public service of Dar es Salaam University; was one of two founders of the Children Theatre Project and Festival in Tanzania (1989); worked a s a consultant to many institutions and organizations (Tanzania National Arts Council, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Forum for African Educationalists, the Popular Theatre Alliance, the Tanzania Commission for Sciences and Technology, UNICEF); produced the play “Mkutano wa pili wa ndege” (The Second Congress of Birds, 1992); performed, directed or produced: “Maangamizi” (The Ancient One, 1998), ”Uhai Bongo”, “City Fishers”, “Khalfani Khalfani” (1999); was an editor at “The Eastern Region”; wrote a short play entitled “Talaka ya Tami" (Tami's Divorce))
