W. D. Snodgrass was born on January 5, 1926, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. The family lived in Wilkinsburg, later moved to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; has Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa's Iowa Writers' Workshop; taught at Cornell (1955-57), Rochester (1957-58), Wayne State (1959-68), Old Dominion (1978-79) and the University of Delaware; retired from teaching in 1994 ( (Wikipedia, March 9, 2021) )
