His name is most well-known from the hymn tune 'Leoni' (The God of Abraham praise), which he transcribed from a Hebrew melody.

מאיר ליון (באנגלית: Myer Lyon; נודע גם בשם הבמה שלו: מייקל לאוני; באנגלית: Michael Leoni; ~1750 – ה' בחשון ה'תקנ"ז, 6 בנובמבר 1796) היה חזן בית הכנסת הגדול בלונדון שהתפרסם גם כזמר אופרה טנור בלונדון ובדבלין. התפרסם כמנטור של אחיינו הטנור היהודי המפורסם ג'ון ברהאם . בהמשך הקריירה שלו שב לבתי הכנסת. הלחן שלו לפיוט "יגדל" המבוסס על מקורות עממיים סלאבים וספרדים, מפורסם בקהילות היהודיות האשכנזיות באירופה ובארצות הברית. הוא נפטר ונקבר בקינגסטון בירת ג'מייקה.
