Marriages are arranged in heaven, 2022:page 13-14 (Born in Preveza, Greece; emigrated in 1909 to the Romaniot community of the Lower East Side of New York; studied at Hunter College, Yale School of Drama (MFA, 1941) and New York University (Ph.D. 1962); taught at various universities, eventually retiring as chair of the Department of English at Ladycliff College; translated Greek poetry into English; wrote three autobiographical plays: Marriages are arranged in heaven (1983), Our kind of people (1989), and Esther (1983); wrote a historical play about a Jewish family in Nazi-occupied Athens, A matter of survival (1979); died in New York in 1994 [This is a mistake according to the editor, Adam Goldwyn; date of death is 1992])

- Rae Dalven (Rachel Dalven (25 April 1904, Preveza, Janina Vilayet, Ottoman Empire- 27 July 1992, New York City); Dalven also served as the editor-in-chief of The Sephardic Scholar at Yeshiva University, the president of the American Society of Sephardic Studies, and was on the board of the American Friends of the Jewish Museum of Greece. Towards the end of her life, she taught modern Modern Greek literature at New York University; The Rae Dalven Prize was established by NYU's Alexander S.
