תקציר/הערה The malacological remains presented in this article shed light on the trade and culinary habits of the inhabitants of Jerusalem during the Byzantine and Early Islamic periods. All the shells were brought to the site from distant sources, such as the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea and the Nile River, indicating trade connections. The shells seem to have been utilized for aesthetic purposes and for consumption, as also recorded in other excavations in Jerusalem.
