The zooarchaeological finds from Lod were retrieved predominately from Stratum II, dated to the Early Islamic period. The bones belong to domestic animals, most of which were identified as sheep/goat and cattle. The pig bones might point to a tolerance on behalf of the Islamic rulership toward the local Christian population, which seems to have been affluent. With an English abstract. |
