Ruben Feldschu (1900-1980), in the Israeli period of his life Re'uven Ben-Shem, a member of the Zionist Revisionist movement and a survivor of the Warsaw ghetto, kept a detailed journal of events in German-occupied Warsaw. Surprisingly, only fragments of his diary, written in Hebrew, were deciphered and published in Israel. Almost nobody among the historians has mentioned him, and nobody has used his chronicle in his historical research. This neglect of Feldschu's journal may be attributed to his rightist political views, to the difficulties in the deciphering of the huge array of records that he left after him, and maybe also to his character. Describes Feldschu's life story and presents excerpts from his journal. The published fragments show that, although Feldschu was a member of the Revisionist Żydowski Związek Wójskowy, he was not among its leaders and did not participate in the Warsaw ghetto uprising because he had managed to escape from the ghetto and had been hidden by friendly Poles before the uprising began. Nevertheless, his diary presents a day-to-day picture of events and moods in the ghetto, and should be used by researchers.
