As a sergeant major in a German army unit for the organization of home holiday transports in Baranavichy (Belarus) he saved Jewish people in 1942-1943. He hid six Jews in his house and helped them to escape after a few days with the help of Polish partisans. He also gave them rifles and ammunition. Armann saved between 35 to 40 Jews through “direct and indirect aid”. He was recognized by Yad Vashem as a Righteous among the Nations in 1988. |
