Discusses the persecution by the Inquisitorial tribunal of Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) of former Portuguese Jews who had settled in the colonies at the end of the 16th century. The Conversos were suspected of practicing Jewish customs in secret in the 1630s, a group of them was arrested and condemned for conspiracy. States that despite all the prohibitions and dangers, Jewish practices continued during the 17th century, but suffered from the strong influence of Christianity in all domains.
