As other important Jewish well-off houses built in the XVIII and XIX century, the Stambouli house was erected in the interior of the old city of Damascus, in the Jewish quarter. Its architecture does not profoundly differ from the one of the traditional great houses of Damascus but several details distinguish it as a Jewish house: the motif of the Magen David (Star of David) often decorates for example the walls of the house. The postcard shows the paved courtyard of the Stambouli House, crossed by several people. In the center there is a fountain but this one is hidden in the picture by a big tree.
