Front Handwritten Text - סלוניקא 30 אילול 5669;Front Period - (Equivalent to the Hebrew date) 15/9/1909;Description - A symbolic depiction of a golden eagle grabbing with his claws a golden Magen David (the Star of David) with Luhot Habrith (the Tablets of the law) in the center, and holding two crossed flags in his beak, on which the phrases 'the flag of Israel' and 'the flag of Judea' are written. Behind him is a big shining sun. The eagle hovers over a wall with two towers or booths, four trees and a domed building (probably a depiction of upper Jerusalem). The text that appears in the two gates of the wall is the beginning of the verse 'As an eagle that stirreth up her nest, hovereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her pinions.' [Deuteronomy 32:11]. This verse is taken from Moses's speach to the Israelites upon entering the promissed land (and Moses's remaining on mount Nevo). In the speach God is depicted as the eagle that hovers over his people and takes care of them. [M.
