'Aben Danan' refers to a dynasty of rabbis coming from Spain, which arrived in Fes after the Inquisition. Today searchers attest that the family Aben Danan are descended from the Rambam (Moses Maimonides). The 'Aben Danan' Synagogue dates from the 17th century and was restored between 1998 and 1999. In the picture, we can see the interior of the Synagogue, the prayer room with rows of wood benches. On the right side, there is the raised Tevah (the elevated area in a Jewish Synagogue which is intended to serve as the place where the person reading aloud from the Torah stands during the Torah reading service) that one can reach by three steps.
