They built a railway which required the crossing of the Muslim cemetery. This event led to the rebellion of the Moroccan and these ones attacked. A number of French were killed. In turn, French sent cruisers and in August 1907, Casablanca was bombed by the 'Galilee', causing the death of many Muslims and Jews. This postcard shows several Jewish families who got refuge in the port of Casablanca to flee from the danger. Some are gathered in boats with all their belongings, other wait in the bank of the sea.
