- Memorial Resolution (Henry Lanz, 1886-1945, died at age 59 on Novermber 1, 1945 in the Palo Alto Hospital. Interests: Philosophy, music, mathematics, community problems, and international affairs. His book, "In Quest of Morals", was the amplification of an essay that won 1st prize in an international competition conducted by 3 Scandinavian countries. - The Lolita Question (Henry Lanz; His father was an American working in Moscow, where Lanz was born in 1886. He spent 2 years at the University of Moscow and 2 years teaching at Beethoven's School of Music in Moscow, then migrated to Germany to study. After coming to America he taught English to American soldiers of Slavic descent at Camp Fremont in Menlo Park. Began teaching Russian privately to Stanford students in 1918, gradually establishing a department and becoming a professor. Best known for his 1941 book, "In Quest of Morals."
