Victor's work and interests center around the relationship between politics, the economy and ecology. He was an economist in Whitehall for the UK Sustainable Development Commission, a government advisory body, where he worked with Prof Tim Jackson on the 'Prosperity without Growth?' report. Victor is Visiting Professor at the Global Sustainability Institute at Anglia Ruskin University, based in Cambridge. He is the author of 'Alternative Economic Indicators' and 'Energy Efficiency Policies', both published by Routledge; and numerous articles and reports. Victor was a researcher at the House of Commons for the Plaid Cymru MPs, and from 2000 to 2003 was an elected politician in his own right, as one of the 25 members of the London regional Assembly, where he became Environment Advisor to the Mayor, Ken Livingstone. He worked for three years as an economist at WWF-UK, and has been active in other NGOs on a voluntary basis. Victor has also worked with business representatives as a Board member at the London Development Agency.)
