She earned her master of law from University College, London (1967); worked at the Department of Lands, Domasi (1956), and was leader of League of Malawi Women (until 1960). She became a prosecutor in Ministry of Justice, Dar es Salaam, Tanganyika (1967); joined East African Community legal department; faculty at the University of Zambia, Lusaka (1977); was prosecuted for treason and sentenced to death (1982), but the sentence was commuted to life imprisonment andwas released from prison in 1993. She established the Centre for Advice, Research and Education on Human Rights (CARER); was elected to the African Human Rights and People's Rights Commission (1999); became a member of Women's Voices and National Commission on Women)

فيرا ملانجازوا تشيروا (الإنجليزية: Vera Chirwa) (مواليد 1932) هي محامية من مالاوي وناشطة في مجال حقوق الإنسان والحقوق المدنية. كانت أول محامية في مالاوي وعضوًا مؤسسًا في حزب مؤتمر مالاوي ورابطة نساء إفريقيا في نياسالاند. قاتلت من أجل الحكم الديمقراطي متعدد الأحزاب في مالاوي ووجهت إليها تهمة الخيانة، وحكم عليها وحكم عليها بالإعدام من قبل الرئيس كاموزو باندا. قضت 12 عامًا في انتظار تنفيذ حكم الإعدام.كانت متزوجة من المحامي أورتون شيروا، وزير العدل والنائب العام في ملاوي الذي توفي لاحقًا في السجن.
