يُعدّ المعهد الوطني للسكري وأمراض الجهاز الهضمي والكلى ( NIDDK ) جزءًا من المعاهد الوطنية للصحة في الولايات المتحدة، والتي بدورها تابعة لوزارة الصحة والخدمات الإنسانية . ويُصنّف المعهد خامس أكبر معاهد المعاهد الوطنية للصحة البالغ عددها 27 معهدًا . وتتمثل مهمة المعهد في دعم البحث والتدريب والتواصل مع الجمهور في مجالات "السكري وأمراض الغدد الصماء والأمراض الأيضية الأخرى؛ وأمراض الجهاز الهضمي، واضطرابات التغذية، والسمنة؛ وأمراض الكلى والمسالك البولية وأمراض الدم". اعتبارًا من عام 2021، يشغل منصب مدير المعهد غريفين ب. رودجرز ، الذي تولى المنصب بالوكالة في عام 2006، ثم بشكل دائم في عام 2007.
