- Bhāskara II (c. 1114-1185), also known as Bhāskarāchārya ("Bhāskara, the teacher"), and as Bhāskara II to avoid confusion with Bhāskara I, was an Indian mathematician, astronomer and inventor.; was born in 1114 in Vijjadavida (Vijjalavida) and living in the present-day Khandesh region of Maharashtra by scholars. Bhāskara and his works represent a significant contribution to mathematical and astronomical knowledge in the 12th century. His main work Siddhānta-Śiromaṇi, is divided into four parts called Līlāvatī, Bījagaṇita, Grahagaṇita and Golādhyāya,[13] which are also sometimes considered four independent works.[14] These four sections deal with arithmetic, algebra, mathematics of the planets, and spheres respectively. باسكارا الثاني (الإنجليزية: Bhāskara II) أو باسكارا (المعروف أيضًا باسم باسكاراتشاريا الذي يعني حرفيًا «باسكارا المعلم»، وسمي بباسكارا الثاني لتفادي الخلط مع باسكارا الأول) (1114-1185)، هو عالم رياضيات وعالم فلك هندي. ولد في بيجابور في كرناتكا. يمثل باسكارا وأعماله مساهمة كبيرة في المعرفة الرياضية والفلكية في القرن الثاني عشر. وقد عد كأعظم رياضيي الهند في العصور الوسطى. ينقسم عمله الرئيسي المسمى «سيدهانتا شيروماني» Siddhānta Shiromani (بالسنسكريتية «تاج الأطاريح») إلى أربعة أجزاء تسمى ليلافاتي Lilāvatī وبيجاغانيتا Bījagaṇita وغراهاغانيتا Grahagaṇita وغولاديايا Golādhyāya، والتي تعتبر أيضًا في بعض الأحيان أربعة أعمال مستقلة. تتعامل هذه الأقسام الأربعة مع الحساب والجبر ورياضيات الكواكب والمجالات الكروية على التوالي. كما كتب أطروحة أخرى تدعى كارانا كوتوهالا Karaṇa Kautūhala.
