Eighteen years after the publication of his book "Antisemitism in America" (1994), Dinnerstein presents an update. Antisemitism still exists in the USA, especially among Hispanics and African Americans, but antisemitic incidents have declined during the 2000s. Despite that, hysteria erupts in Jewish circles about each new incident. The main incidents have had little impact on American public opinion, and did not change Americans' attitudes toward Jews (e.g. Mel Gibson's film "The Passion of the Christ"). Although pro-Palestinian and anti-Israeli rallies on campuses are often violent, they are expressions of anti-Zionism rather than of antisemitism. The book "The Israeli Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy", by Mearsheimer and Walt, was met with a negative reaction in the Jewish world. However, their thesis that the Jews have power in the USA is correct besides, most Americans support U.S. policy in the Middle East. Jews have no reason to be afraid in the USA.
