Examines two anti-Converso satirical works written in the 15th century. This type of literature appeared in various genres what unites all of them is their intent to mock individuals or to vilify Conversos as a whole. While most of these works convey their hostility in crude, stereotypical fashion, a few are distinguished by their clever rhetoric, such as the two examples discussed here. One is a document entitled "Privilege that King Juan II granted to a man named Hernando, one of his favored, to become a Marrano even though he was not one by birth" (found in an 18th-century manuscript "copied by hand from an old book") - here edited for the first time (pp. 306-324). It satirizes not only Conversos but also the nobility. The second work, "Transcript of a letter of privilege that King Juan II granted to a hidalgo", is found in two manuscripts. All the manuscripts are in the National Library in Madrid.
