الوصف Reflects on the memory and teaching of the Holocaust in post-Soviet Ukraine. Although the ban on research and teaching of the Holocaust has been lifted, and the academic study of it is on the rise in the country, the Holocaust has failed to become part of Ukrainian national memory. The genocide of Jews is regarded as part of a specifically Jewish memory, as something that has nothing to do with the Ukrainian past. Contends that the ethnocentrism of Ukrainian historiography and history education, as well as the neglect of the Holocaust by the mainstream academia and schools, harms the understanding of Ukrainian history and the Ukrainians' self-image. (From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism - The Hebrew University of Jerusalem)
