Surveys revisionist accounts of World War II, summarizing the theses of David Irving's "Nuremberg: The Last Battle" (1996). Presents the case of the Polish revisionist historian Janusz Ratajczak, from Opole University. In 1999 he published a pamphlet "Tematy niebezpieczne" ("Dangerous Themes"), in which he presented and totally approved of Holocaust revisionists' views. Ratajczak was tried for denying the Nazi crimes, but he was acquitted due to "the little social harm" caused by publishing such a pamphlet. Ratajczak, however, was suspended as a tutor at Opole University. Reviews the coverage of Ratajczak's case in the Polish press. Discusses the prospects for development of revisionist ideas in Poland. Concludes that this trend might develop if there is an increase in antisemitism and little knowledge about the Holocaust. Disagrees with opinions expressed by some newspapers which opposed putting Ratajczak on trial because it could infringe on freedom of speech.
